2020 Victory in the Pacific Anniversary PNC
Secure this limited edition postal numismatic cover marking the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific. Only 500 will be produced. Australian legal tender coin Commemorative postage paid envelope and internal card feature historic images.
On 15 August 1945, the Australian Prime Minister, Ben Chifley, announced that Japan had accepted the Allied demand for unconditional surrender, effectively bringing World War II to an end after six years of bitter conflict. Jubilation erupted throughout the nation in celebration of Victory in the Pacific. Featuring the inscription 75 YEARS END OF WWII and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the coin portrays a silhouetted soldier walking into the sunset and two wreaths encasing a central dove motif. Issued as Australian legal tender, it is housed in a superbly designed card with a circular window revealing both the reverse and obverse designs. As well as photographs of serving and civilian Australians reacting to the news with joy, the postage paid envelope features a commemorative Australia Post stamp cancelled with a Sydney postmark dated 24 October 2020.
